He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He obtained a degree in Theology from Tennessee Temple College and served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1960. Mr. Kent served in the Korean Conflict as a jet engine mechanic before being honorably discharged in 1960 with the rank of Airman - 2nd Class. He was also retired from Plumber's Steamfitters Local 106.
He is survived by wife, Linda; daughters, Kala Kuhlthau and husband, Mark of Sulphur, Tammie Vann and husband, Ronald of Georgia; sons, Kyle Kent and wife, Diane of Georgia, Karl Kent and wife, Ruth of Tennessee; 3 step daughters and 2 step sons; sisters, Rosa Lee Clanton of Tennessee, Laura Belle Paxton of Arizona; brother, Stanley C. Kent of Lake Charles; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Belle Kent.
His funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Dale Nazworth will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
