Cornelius Vyshonne Fontenot

At the age of 17 years old, Cornelius exited this life and entered into eternal rest on July 25, 2023 at 3:19 a.m.

Cornelius was full of life and was going to make sure he was the life of the party whether it was his peers or adults you would know Cornelius was present.

Cornelius loved his family, church family, friends and his enemies. As a young boy, he was introduced to sports where he grew a love for the New Orleans Saints and was inspired to pursue the game. He was a very talented athelete and loved to play football, basketball, baseball and to run track with dreams of one day becoming a professional athelete in one or all of these fields and to one day have enough money to build a home for his mother, sisters and a homeless shelter for the homeless in our community.

Cornelius is preceded in death by his parental grandfather, Ralph Gibson. His maternal grandparents, Tommy Joe and Carolyn Fontenot, Sharon Glodd and Anthony Harrison.

He leaves to cherish his big heart, smile and hearty laughter his father, Joseph Gibson, his mother, Whitney Fontenot, his sisters; Ka'Mireyah, Khi'Alynn, Jeriah, Jennesis, Kaitlyn and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, church family and friends.

A visitation for Cornelius will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Hixson Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana, followed by Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery, Westlake, LA.
