Connie was born on October 22, 1934, in Vidrine, Louisiana. She was raised in Pine Prairie, Louisiana, and graduated from Pine Prairie High School. She married Saeviel “Mac” McDaniel in 1952 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California, just before he left to serve in the Korean War.
After Connie had the last of her five children, she started school at McNeese State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1972. This feat took her eight years. While Mac, her husband, worked offshore, two weeks on and one week off, Connie mothered her five children and took education classes in the evening. After graduation, she taught first grade at Jackson Street Elementary School, Ralph Wilson Elementary School and T.H. Watkins Elementary School for 25 years. After retirement, she substituted at T.H. Watkins Elementary until the age of 80.
Connie loved her close-knit family. When her children were growing up, they would sometimes ask which of the five children she favored most. She would smile and cleverly answer that each child was her favorite person of his or her age. Later on, as she talked to her grandchildren, she would tell them the same.
Connie was a devoted Catholic and belonged to St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church. She was faithful to her ministry as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion and also served communion at a local nursing home. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters and a Come Lord Jesus Prayer Group. Connie prayed the rosary daily for her family.
She and her husband were members of the Amicus Club for many years. She loved playing card and board games. She and her husband played the card game Rook with their best couple friends for many years. After she retired, she played Bourré weekly with a group of lady friends. She enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casino where she and her husband met her sisters and their husbands for dinner and fun. After retirement, she enjoyed walking in the mall and visiting with the mall walking group.
Survivors include her son, Mike McDaniel and wife, Ruth Anne of Moss Bluff; daughters, Charmaine Pousson and husband, Nelson of Cove, TX, Donna Britain and husband, Morris of Moss Bluff, Jo Ann Allen and husband, John of Calhoun, LA and Jill Sheridan and husband, David of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, sisters, Gaynel Viscardis and Brenda Sue and husband, Wayne Johnson, brother-in-law, Ralph Soileau, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Glynn McDaniel, nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
