Cleo Elizabeth Perkins – Lewis was born in Westlake, Louisiana on February 7, 1929, to Jennie and Willie Perkins. She was the ninth born of twelve children. Cleo’s parents and eight siblings preceded her in death.
Cleo was raised and received her formal education and cosmetology license in Westlake, Louisiana.
Cleo accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of eight and remained on the battlefield for the Lord as a faithful servant until she was called home. Cleo trusted God totally with her mind, body and soul. During her life, she traveled to many countries – Germany, Italy, Mexico, France, Luxembourg and Greece.
Cleo was virtuous, elegant, poised and unequaled in harmony and grace. She enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews, baking, sewing, cooking, traveling around the world and sharing historical events from her travels.
On January 14, 2016, Cleo was called home. Her life and dedication to her family will be cherished by her loving and devoted husband David T. Lewis. In addition to David’s extensive family members, Cleo leaves three siblings-Norma Perkins Broussard (Paul), Romel Perkins Walker, Horace Perkins (Susan); Loving family members, Jewel M. Amos (Gerald), Linda LaBlanc, Cynthia Broussard-Muldrow (Darryl), Donna Broussard, David Broussard, Paul Broussard, Anthony Broussard (Kelli), Charles Broussard, Aaron Walker (Teneisha), Mervin Walker, and a host of grand and great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Willow Springs Baptist Church in Sulphur, LA. Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, LA on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 5:00pm-9:00pm . Visitation will resume on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Willow Springs Baptist Church from 9:00am-until the service time at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the church cemetery “Willow Springs Baptist Church Cemetery”. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
