It is with profound sadness that the family of Christopher Wayne Corbello, 51, announces that Chris passed away November 6th, 2024 at his residence in Lake Charles. Chris is survived by his wife, Erica Leigh Corbello, his children, Roger Paul Corbello, Sarah Christine Corbello Guillory, and Dylan Gabe Marshall Corbello, his grandchildren Emma Marie Guillory and Cecelia Diane Louise Guillory, his mother Jennifer Diane Walker Guillory, step-father Jimmy Guillory (who has since passed), his brother Roger Dale Corbello, Jr., all of Lake Charles, his uncle Paul D. Plaisance, Jr. of Rio Rancho, NM, and his aunts and uncles, Karen Corbello Bryant, Roland Dean Corbello, Glenda Lofton, and Paula Corbello Keeley, who was also his Godmother. Chris also cherished numerous other relatives that live out of state, as well as many cousins that he loved staying in touch with.
Chris was born on July 12, 1973 in Lake Charles. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He attended OLQH elementary school and Saint Louis Catholic High school, graduating in 1993. Chris worked a few different jobs to provide for his beloved family and was especially proud to have worked with his father, Roger Sr. at U.S. Embassies in both Russia and Singapore.
As his friends and family know, Chris was the type of person who never met a stranger. Chris would befriend anyone lucky enough to get to know him and would literally give anyone the shirt off his back if they were in need. Chris was friends with everyone he met. If you needed a meal, Chris would feed you. If you needed a bed, Chris would take you in. If you needed any kind of help, Chris was the first one to volunteer. If anyone was sick, Chris was there. If anyone had a joyful event, Chris was there. He never failed to be there for friends and family, regardless of the circumstances. Chris especially cherished the time that he spent with his children and grandchildren. When his son was in Baton Rouge attending LSU, it was nothing for Chris to make the drive to spend even just a day with him. In the last few years, he spent as much time as possible with his granddaughter and was blessed to be able to know his newest granddaughter before his passing.
Chris was blessed with many talents. He was excellent at working with his hands, whether it be repairs on a home or vehicle, figuring out some sort of logistical problem, or cooking like a master chef, to name a few. Chris was an avid outdoorsman, cherishing the time he was able to spend fishing or hunting. He also loved spending time doing the little things, like sitting with his family to pass a quiet evening, watching Leave it to Beaver, and enjoying the food that he made.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Vivian Corbello, his maternal grandparents, Laura Mae Sherman (with Raymond B. Sherman) and Dr. Ralph Walker, his father, Roger Dale Corbello, Sr., and his Maw Maw and Paw Paw, Paul and Jerri Plaisance.
The family will welcome the public for visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 5pm until 8pm. Visitation will resume Monday, November 18, 2024 at 9am until time of funeral service officiated by Reverend Levi Thompson at 11am. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
