Rev. Charles Brackley Moss, Jr, 90, of Westlake, passed into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, February 1, 2020 surrounded by his loving children. He was born to his late parents, Charles and Gladys Moss in Hearne, TX. He was proud of his service in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a guitar repairman and loved Martin guitars. Rev. Charles went to Louisiana College, then graduated from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX and pastored several churches in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico. He was also a member of IBEW Electrical Union for 65 years. His greatest joy was getting together with family and friends and playing music (mostly Bluegrass), and fishing. He was also a member of a Bluegrass Band during the 1970s. He always was a witness to everyone he came in contact with, sharing the good news of the Gospel.
He is survived by his son, Ritchie "Skeeter" Moss and wife Colleen of Westlake; two daughters, Deborah Cresswell and husband Michael of Westlake, Rebekah Ruth Johnson and husband Anthony "Moose" of Moss Bluff; 18 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; along with 2 great-great grandchildren.
Rev. Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Snider Moss; one son, Paul Moss; one daughter, Pamela Moss Hinman Parker; one grandson, Matthew Roberts; one great grandson, Ian Materne; one brother, William Moss; and one sister, Dorothy Moss Smith.
Services will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 12:00pm, with Bro. Mark Stagg officiating. Visitation will begin on Friday, from 9:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
