Cathy was born and raised in Sweetlake for most of her life and recently moved to live with her daughter for the last five years. She had a passion for reading books, working puzzles, singing and music, and eating and cooking. Those of Cathy's family and friends that knew her will have the memories of her making them laugh and being the most wonderful mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Shanna Primeaux; grandchildren, Alexis Zimmer, Maddison Fontenot, Annie and Drake Trahan, Serenity, Trinity, and Merci Ned; sister, Shirley Nunez and husband Brent; and loved by many family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Trahan, Jr.; four brothers, Charles R. Young, James Young, Wilton James "Buck" Young, and John A. Young.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday, August 25, 2022 beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. until the procession leaves for the church at 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be immediately following at Sweetlake Grandlake Cemetery.
