Barbara Jean Cormier, 79, passed peacefully away, surrounded by her loving family on August 11, 2017. She was born January 24, 1938 to Lee J. Wing and Marjorie Young-Wing. Barbara was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a professional career woman over 20 years, retiring from Conoco Lake Charles Employees Credit Union. Her accounting work was precisely done, before the age of computers, with pen and paper. Her Christianity was expressed as a faithful member of Boulevard Baptist Church of Lake Charles. She worshiped the Lord, taught Sunday school and her bible remained forever at her chair, which she read daily. She augmented her faith by watching T.V. Evangelist on Sunday. She was a true southern lady; keeping her nails painted, expertly applying her makeup, and keeping in with the biblical junction regarding a woman’s glory, which is her hair, she always took great care. She did not preach; yet, her quiet example remains a sermon for us all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Marjorie Wing and sister Peggy Wells. Left behind to cherish her loving memory is her husband of 42 years, Robert L. Cormier; son, Terry Fletcher of Westlake, brother, Thomas Wing of Sulphur; daughters, Colleen Rada and husband Sal of Orlando, Florida and Lisa Lepine and husband Allen of Biloxi, Mississippi; grandchildren, Andrea Fletcher and Dustin Fletcher , Christopher Cormier, Catelyn Bryant, Kenny Faul, Kaleb Faul; great grandchildren, Madeline Cormier and Jackson Faul. Numerous other relatives and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles with Pastor Theron Watson and Father Joseph McGrath officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. and lasting until the service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Prien Memory Garden Cemetery.
