Albert "Poppa" Roy Citizen, Sr., 75, of Lake Charles, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at his residence. He was born to his late parents, Levy and Leona Citizen in Elton, LA. on December 22, 1943. He enjoyed restoring Antique vehicles, hot rods, car shows, traveling, and attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses Prien Lake Congregation for over 40 years where he served as the ministerial servant. He always had a willing hand and was an active servant in his congregation. He was proud of his military service in the United States Army where he served for four years and one month, and achieved a rank of E4, and also received the National Service Defense Award. He worked for W.R. Grace for over 40 years as a welder and pipefitter. Most of all, he loved his family and was a very loving and compassionate man.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Citizen; children, Albert Roy Citizen, Jr. and wife Gina of Moss Bluff, Vernette Citizen Varn and husband Stanley of Lake Charles, Curtis Clark and wife Donna of Lake Charles, Hawanna Jones of Lake Charles, Kelly Citizen Stevens and husband Troylan of Beaumont, Tammy Francis, Torie Francis, Tara Harrison; three brothers, Lee Arthur Citizen and wife Mary of Lake Charles, Phillip Kirkland and wife of Lake Charles, Joseph "Tyboy" Levi Citizen of Lake Charles; three sisters, Leverda Deboest of Lake Charles, Thelma Fields of Maryland, Fritzie Gale and husband Morris Harris of California; grandchildren, Phillip Babineaux, Jr., Kobe Citizen, Dylan Duhon, Wesley Citizen, Brianna Citizen, Troylan Stevens, Jr., Jakobi Stevens, Trevin Clark, Mykenze Clark; along with twelve great grandchildren.
Roy is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Clara Citizen; one son, Phillip Babineaux; one brother, Fritzgerald Kirkland; two sisters, Rita Fay Kirkland and Eartha Mae Griffin; and his grandson, Donovan Roy Citizen.
Services will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 11:00am with Bro. Harold Arceneaux officiating. Visitation will start at the funeral home on Wednesday, beginning at 10:30am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
