Seth , the light this world needed and still needs. He was so bright he would bring light to everyone else around him. Though I haven’t talked to him in a few years, I would consider him the little family I had when no one else was there. I wish I had reached out. I know you’re watching us from heaven, I miss you brother. 

When you're a teenager, it is easy to look to your elders as role models and to say "when I'm grown, I want to be like them." It's much rarer to find a peer who inspires you in the same way. I spent a lot of the time that I knew Seth trying to be more like him - I admired him for his kindness, his warmth, and his compassion. Seth knew how to make a person feel seen. I'll spend a lifetime missing Seth, but I'll still be spending my time trying to emanate the kind of love and passion that he brought to the world.

I am very sad to hear of Seth's passing.  I had the privilege of teaching Seth AP Calculus and AP Physics, 3 classes in all.  He was more inclined toward the liberal arts, but he heard how difficult these classes could be and he wanted to experience them.  He was quite capable in them.  Seth was intelligent, respectful, kind, and sweet.  I thought very highly of him.  It seems so long ago, but it wasn't really.  

Seth blended in so well with diverse groups of people.  He was easy to like and he provided a calming affect on others, often making them feel appreciated and important.  I expect he treated the whole world as a family.  He will be missed.  My thoughts are with you.


When I think about my own twins’ North Oldham days Seth is a face that comes to mind.  My kids always spoke highly of him. I even called him once to see if he could advise my son about something.  He was wiser than his years.  His loss is devastating to so many many people.  My deepest condolences to all who knew him, especially his family.  

I’m sorry our family cannot attend today’s celebration of life. again,   The Brazeaus send much love and support to you all. 

Seth was an amazing person who always brought joy to those around him. He was in my language classes on a study abroad in Spain and I can still remember his bright energy in class and I will forever remember the Mediterranean sea swimming trip. 

While we weren’t closest of friends, I have nothing but fond memories with Seth. This was a guy who simply didn’t care who you were or where you were from, he only cared about being kind. Seth was the definition of a stand up guy, and that’s something I know for a fact anybody who knew him would agree with. Whether it was at a mutual friends house or backstage at talents shows in school, if Seth was around, you were guaranteed to smile and have the best time, no matter what was going on. The impact your kind hearted personality had on everyone you met is something I will never forget. 

I had a class with Seth my second year of law school. It was a small class, and the Professor would often struggle to find volunteers to discuss the cases. Seth would usually be the one to step up and volunteer his thoughts. I was always so impressed by both the deep takeaways he had and the eloquence with which he could share them. He knew how to see the bigger picture in such a cool  way. 

Seth also introduced me to one of my favorite songs - Go Outside by Ratboys. I’ll forever think of him when I hear it. Rest easy🤍

My mom and sister came to visit me all the way from VA for our law school graduation. The day of graduation, me, them, and Seth all went out to get brunch (and a Bloody Mary or 2). This was the first time they met Seth and they fell in love with him. Seth was one of my best friends and they immediately understood why. He was quick to welcome my mom and sister with open arms, laughing and sharing stories with them as if he’d known them for years. I’m forever grateful that they made that trip so that they could meet him at least once. Without Seth I would not have survived law school; not just with studying itself, but with overcoming the mental obstacles along the way. Seth was the first and only true friend I’ve known who was solely dedicated to an empathetic way of life, always wanting to ask how I am and talk through our problems. Or if we were too burnt out to get serious, we would just chill out, drink wine and watch Twin Peaks at 1am. Or maybe put on one of our favorite beach house vinyls and just zone out to it together, commenting occasionally on our favorite songs. It got to a point when he was the first person I went to when I was dealing with any personal dilemmas, heartbreaks, or just bad moods. Even after I moved back to VA, we would still occasionally check in on each other to make sure we’re meditating and getting outside every now and then. He truly changed who I am and I will continue to live for him. Tom and Kendra, I’m so grateful my family and I got to meet you at graduation. Gretchen and Cameron, while I never met you all, Seth would always talk about you guys with nothing but love and admiration. Your whole family is just so loving and kind and absolutely does not deserve to go through the pain you’re going through. My heart is and always will be with all of you.

The music festival Seth had come to town for was rained out, so we made the best of it and found an indoor concert to go to instead. As you can see, he embraced my best friends as if they were his, even though he’d known them for a handful of hours before this picture was taken. 

It’s so rare to find someone as genuine, caring, kind, fun to be around, and easy to talk to as Seth. I’m grateful to have so many memories with you and already miss the way you light up every room, until we meet again ❤️

I had only a handful of interactions with Seth, though he was so close with my Brother and my brother always spoke so highly of him, that it felt like I knew him. Every time I had an interaction with him, I knew I wanted to talk more. I remember talking to him at my brothers wedding, and he was just a joy to be around. I never felt I had to be anything but myself around him, and I'm glad to have spent any time around him at all. He was truly special and unique, purely Seth. I aspire to make people feel the way Seth made them feel, better, special, and important. He put something special into the world and I hope to grab hold of it. Constantly keeping all in my prayers.

I met Seth on a study abroad trip. To know Seth in any capacity is a privilege, but I feel especially lucky to have gotten the chance to travel with him because I got to witness him marvel at the world.  He spoke fluently about politics, poetry, and the strangeness of being alive. And he did it all with a mix of deep compassion and a lighthearted sense of fun. Thank you for everything, Seth— you will always represent Granada to me. ♥️

There was no one like Seth. Knowing Seth from home was so comforting to me when we both ended up at UK Law together. To know Seth was to love Seth 🤍 he had an impact on every life he touched. His kindness, compassion, and gentle nature shown through every interaction I’ve ever had with him. I feel lucky to have known him and to call him a friend. 

Seth and I met by chance when he was vacationing in Maine a couple of summers ago. I was chatting about my work in mental health policy at the bar and Seth boldly introduced himself. He shared that he too was passionate about decriminalizing and destigmatizing mental health struggles. Since our meet-cute, we have been supporting each other’s work via email and video calls; cheerleading and sharing resources. 

Seth's passion, kindness, and dedication stretched far beyond KY. His enthusiasm, empathy, and expertise bolstered me during periods of frustration and advanced my efforts here in Maine. It was such a comfort knowing that I had a peer with similar passions and lived experiences working to improve systems and save lives. I will miss him terribly.


Seth was kind to everyone. He had the best soul and was always smiling — Seth was a great friend to many and is already greatly missed. This is a devastating loss to many — I am grateful for the memories we had throughout middle school and high school! You will always be remembered Seth in the best light. We will all see you again someday ❤️

I am saddened to hear of your passing my friend. I will always cherish the memories we shared together. I am grateful for the brotherhood and friendship we were given, through our time running around Goshen. Your presence was always so warm and inviting. I will miss running into you at the most random times and reconnecting.

Our senior year of high school we took a class called “The sixties” together and had the best time pulling shenanigans in the spirit of the 1960s like staging a walkout during class and holding an in-class concert in which everyone performed songs from the 60s. After graduation we took our teacher out for sushi. We thought we were so funny.  

One of my favorite things about Seth was that he was the best person to talk to. You could talk with Seth about literally anything and be met with kindness, genuine interest and insightful comments. Some of my fondest memories from high school were nights spent playing guitar and talking about life with Seth. The world is a less interesting and less musical place without him. 

Seth invited me to his House in Lexington and took me to a UK game. This was one of the best moments of my life. I'm forever grateful that I was able to spend time with him!

Shaken at my absolute core to see the news, Seth. What an absolutely kind, genuine, smart, talented, compassionate human being. Truly one-of-a-kind. I am listening to The Lonesome Crowded West as I try to write these words...
Seth was easily one of my favorite people from my college (and life) experience. We immediately hit it off and regularly bounced music/band recommendations from one another since 2017. It seems like yesterday that we were complaining about the academic throws of Harvard + UK Law... time certainly has flown. With my last partner, we'd even joked that he'd be the one to officiate a ceremony at Big Sur. I miss talking about how we'd find a way to get you out to New England sometime (whether that be permanent or for a vacation) or how we could maybe find a way to get me on your mental health committee and run Louisville together. I wish we'd actually been able to go on a road trip together. Hell, I wish I'd been able to see you once more (can't believe it's been 2 years). 
The last thing you said to me was "and just depression shit yknow, it'll lift eventually" and my response was "You need someone to talk to?" I never heard back... My greatest condolences to the Stevens family. Seth was so, so, so incredibly special. I cannot even imagine. 

I knew Seth from his work on the Kentucky Judicial Commission on Mental Health. He was always helpful and engaged in every interaction. He was extremely intelligent, witty, and caring.  His death is a tremendous loss for the entire community. Wishing peace for his family and friends. 

If you would have asked me even months ago to name people from my childhood of incredibly high character, I would have named Seth. Though I was never directly close with Seth, we ran in similar circles for many years through North Oldham, River Valley Christian Church, and North cross country teams as well.

When I think of Seth, he’s frozen in my brain at 17 years old. It’s our senior year of high school and I see him in the hallways every day. He's the kind of student teachers adore because he pays attention in class and always follows directions, not because he’s scared not to, but instead because he has that unique ability lost on all too many teenagers to see adults as human beings and to treat them with respect. I sit next to Kendra in class or maybe at lunch as she tells stories about or involving Seth. Her eyes light up and she speaks from a place of such tender love for her brother that everyone else can feel it. Seth and Kendra are a package deal and everyone at NOHS knows it and loves them for it. If I picture Seth, he’s laughing. Always laughing—he’s stuck like that.

To Gretchen and Tom, you raised a completely wonderful son who brought so much light and love into the world. And to Kendra and Cam, it pains me deeply to think of your loss, but the world is a better place because you shared your brother with us all and I have no doubt will forever continue to do so.

No matter what, I consider it an incredible privilege to forever be able to say I grew up with Seth Stevens.

Terribly sorry to hear of Seth's passing... my recollection of Seth from our time at North is one of a extremely intelligent, kind, thoughtful and ambitious man.  May God bless him and the family and friends he leaves behind.

After beating a level of Genshin Impact that he probably put several or dozens of hours into. The face of a war torn winner. So determined. And he loved this sweatshirt

Seth was a role model for me of confidence, maturity, gentleness and empathy.  His perspective and his presence were always so unique and so nice to be around. When I think of him I remember feeling included and happy. I'm thankful to have known him.

Seth- You were truly one of a kind. So unapologetically real & true to yourself and true to what you stood for. To say the world lost a good one is a vast and absolute understatement. You were the grooviest guy I ever had the pleasure of knowing. You will be forever missed Seth. 

This is very painful for me as well as for others who knew Seth very well. I can't even express how heartbroken I am. I knew him like a little brother growing up. I remember the time when we used to play Star Wars and we would have lightsaber duels until at least one of us would tire out. I am so sorry for this loss. I will pray for Seth and for his family. Thank you Seth for being one of my best friends when I was growing up in Goshen, KY.

Very sorry to hear about Seth. He was one of the sweetest and most kind person I've ever known. Made my time in highschool a better experience being around him and seeing him as a brother with the old cross country crew at North. He will be missed and will be having a spaghetti dinner in his honor.

He had just gotten this coat he had been eying forever. It had some goofy name like Coatalufagus (not that, but something like it). He always called it by name and was so proud of it. I think he felt so stylish, even though (or because), it was a little oversized, in the most perfect way

My 17th birthday. Seth and I spent the night before this on the Ohio river with his guitar and he was so excited to be the first one to wish me a happy birthday that year. 

This was the day we figured out we weren’t very skilled at eating with chopsticks. Seth and I listened to Tame Impala in the LeBaron the whole way there. I’ll miss driving with him and watching him groove to songs that set his soul on fire.

I am so sorry for your alls loss. I had the privilege of going to a high school with Seth. He was always so kind to me. Not to mention, how cool I thought he was. A great friend to all.

By some stroke of luck I wound up with Seth as my camp neighbor at Bonnaroo 2015. We’ve maintained a solid online friendship these last 8 years. He has been a consistent positive force in my life despite only spending 4 days together years ago. He was always offering congrats or encouragement for things in my life. He was someone I was proud to know. The world is a darker place without Seth. I will cherish his memory forever. 

When working with Seth on KJEARNL at UK Law he was truly the light of every meeting. I don’t think anyone was ever a stranger to Seth. He always went out of his way to make sure that everyone was welcome and had a friend. While I did not have much time with Seth, his glowing personality and kind heart left a lasting impression on me. Seth was an amazing person and I am devastated to hear of his passing. Sending love and prayers to him and his family. 

Seth and I were law school classmates. He was one of those guys who made everyone feel better—about their day, about law school, and about their lives. I wasn’t close with Seth, but he always treated me like we were the best of friends. He spoke with me before class, went out of his way to ask how I was doing after I suffered the loss of a loved one, and every single time he saw me outside of the classroom, he spoke.

I wish I was more like Seth in a lot of ways, and I wish I had the chance to grow closer with him. He never knew a stranger. He made those around him feel loved and supported. Most importantly, he was a man of extreme intelligence, wit, and accomplishment, but he never made me or others feel small or less than. He lifted others up, and for that I will forever admire him.

To Seth’s loved ones: I am so sorry for what you are experiencing. I wish you peace, healing, and love.

Seth was a dear friend to my younger brother, and an inspiration to our family. 
As an older sister, I was so happy to know my younger brother had such a smart, kind, and humble friend. I certainly could worry less when he was in Seth’s company during their high school years.

Seth was a lovable, kind-hearted, brilliant man who saw the good in EVERYONE.  I love you Seth and will miss you so much.

I met Seth when we were both in Lexington, KY. As a non-law student (my GF/Partner was attending UK Law), I'll always remember how Seth brought me into conversations and helped make me feel like I belonged - even when I only knew a few people. That is just who he was.

We also connected deeply on music. We would share bands and new songs together, even after I moved to Chicago after UK graduation (with many of his reccos making it to my Spotify Wrapped!). I'll miss that connection deeply, and have been playing his favorites on repeat   the last few days.

Seth will truly be missed but never forgotten - my condolences go out to his family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of this heartbreaking loss.  I got to know Seth during his final semester of law school, when we had many interesting conversations about matters of policy and justice.  I talked about his post-graduation plans with him often that semester, and we had stayed in touch over the last year as he took on new and interesting responsibilities.  Seth was a true joy to know, and I am so glad that I had the great good fortune to have had him as a student and to have seen some of his brilliance first hand. The one take-away I received from Seth’s life was a model of how to truly show empathy and compassion towards others. No other take-away is needed to be expressed but just that. I had the privilege of being a speech mom at NOHS and got to know Seth. He was such an easy kid to talk to with a beautiful smile. I would have loved to see him in action in the courtroom using his awesome speaking skills. I am so sad his light here on earth is gone.

In high school, Seth, Michelle, and I had the brilliant idea to go camping at Red River Gorge with nothing but Eno hammocks. This was my very first camping trip. We camped a mile or so into the wilderness. The sun set and it began to storm - none of us had thought to check the weather. We couldn’t hike the muddy trail back to the car in the dark, so we huddled into our freezing hammocks. I was so miserable, but through the storm I heard a giggle. Seth started laughing, then Michelle starting laughing, then I started laughing. We laughed at ourselves the entire night. We were soaking wet, freezing cold, and a little bit scared, but Seth somehow  made it so much fun. I think about him every time I go camping, now. And I always check the weather. 

To know Seth was to love Seth... what an amazing human being. I still have the poems he wrote me in English class freshman year, they will hold an extra special place in my heart. He was the most fashion forward, radiant, and loving soul. My heart aches for his family and loved ones. You will be so dearly missed Seth. ❤️

Seth and I had the unique shared experience of going to North Oldham, Alabama for Undergrad, and then continuing our education at the University of Kentucky for professional school. I used to always joke with him that he was following me! Whenever I ran into him at Alabama or Lexington I was not only happy to see a familiar face, but that it was specifically Seth. My day was always made so much better just by talking to him. He was so sweet, kind, a wonderful listener, and always cared so much about others. From encouraging each other during a cross country race, to talking about our plans and goals when we were about to graduate professional school, Seth was always such a joy to be around.  He was such a bright light and will be incredibly missed.

Seth was such a bright light to so many. I’ll never forget when he came to a get together last minute with my friends and I in college. Turned out, there wasn’t enough space in the car for everyone, so I got in the trunk. I’ll always remember hearing such joyful belly laughs from Seth in the car while I was in the trunk on our drive over listening to music on blast. He just couldn’t stop laughing, having the time of his life. I’ll never forget those laughs and so many other memories we shared.

Swag had an infectious smile that would put everyone around him at ease. He always seemed to have a quiet confidence about him and he was always a great personality to have on the cross country and track teams. I am so proud to hear of what he accomplished in life and share my condolences with his family in their loss. The world feels a little less bright without him in it.

Oh the many things I can say about Seth. There was no one like him.  He brought such light wherever he went. He had a writing that was in a published book, and I was so honored and proud of him.  I even had him sign it. The book is all I have left of his sweet soul. He will be missed. So missed. My love to his sister, brother, dad and mama ❤️

Seth has  held a special place in my heart since  5th grade when I was blessed to have him in my class at Harmony Elementary. He was the kind of person every teacher hopes for—innately kind and generous who cares more about everyone else than himself.  He was a natural leader and a positive influence. I knew from the first time we met that he was special and very gifted.  I’m so grateful that he and Michelle were such great friends! Praying for all who loved him, especially his  dear family.
