She was a mail carrier for the Crestwood Post Office where she was the first female carrier in Crestwood. Joyce enjoyed quilting and crocheting and working puzzle books.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 49 years, Sonny Powell; sons, Eddie Powell and Teddy Powell; siblings, her twin sister, Lois McCarter and Jimmy Marrs.
Survivors include her children, Deborah Stamper, Freddie Powell (Sanci), Bobby Powell and Thomas Powell (Amy); 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grand daughter.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at noon on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home with visitation from 9 AM until service time on Friday. Burial will be private in Louisville Memorial Gardens East Cemetery.
