Merle Thomas Purvis

He was a member of LaGrange Baptist Church, a 1950 graduate of LaGrange High School, attended the University of Louisville and a U.S. Army Veteran. Merle was a retired as President for American Saw and Tool, a division of Vermont American in 1989.

Merle will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, brother and Papaw.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 62 years; Hallie Davis Purvis; parents: Clarence and Elsie Chandler Purvis: sisters: Freda Tuttle and Bonnie Rowlett; and brother: Wayne Purvis.

He leaves to cherish memory his children: Candy Purvis Forman and Darrell Thomas Purvis (Elisabeth); grandsons: Travis Roman (Leigh-Anna) and Chandler Forman (Sara); great grandchildren: Morrigan Roman and Cassius Roman: brothers-in-law: Cleston Rowlett, James Bailey Davis (Rosie) and Bill Davis (Brenda); sister-in-law: Sue Davis and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at LaGrange Baptist church with burial to follow in Valley of Rest Cemetery. Visitation from 4-8 PM on Monday at the funeral home and after 1:30 PM on Tuesday at the church.
