He was born to the late Henry "Jack" and Cleo (Poole) Pierce in Brownsboro, KY on August 23, 1937.
He was a man of faith, a member of Ballardsville Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon since 1975. John went on many mission trips to Honduras and was involved with Baptist Builders and Oneida Institute in Eastern KY.
John served his community through his many years with the Ballardsville Lions Club and Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 153 for 35+ years. He loved building things; his porch swings and electric trains were his favorites. John gardened and enjoyed sharing his crop with friends and family.
John served 8 years in the United States Army 100th Division during the Berlin Crisis. He worked for Clayton & Lambert Manufacturing Company for 35 years before becoming a Deputy for Oldham County Sheriffs Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister; Maxine Whitman.
Left to cherish the memory of John are his wife of 64 years; Geneva Oldham Pierce, children; Pamela Neuner, June Boguskie (Rick), Ricky Pierce (Inga), Cassie Puckett (Paul) and John Pierce (Angel), 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; siblings; Marie Allen, Bettie Gernert and Darrel Pierce, extended family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11am at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East in Louisville, KY. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4-8pm and Friday morning from 9am until the start of the service.
