Jim Cox, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on March 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on October 14, 1950, Jim lived a life marked by dedication, passion, and boundless skill.
A proud Navy veteran, Jim served his country with honor before embarking on a lifelong journey as a master of all trades. Whether restoring British cars or casting a line, Jim's passion for life knew no bounds.
A Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan through and through, Jim's enthusiasm for the game was matched only by his love for the great outdoors. An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, he found solace and joy in nature.
Jim will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, his sense of humor that made everyone smile, especially the memories he created with his brothers and sisters, and the unwavering love and support for his family. Though he has left this world, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Della Cox; siblings, Larry Cox and Danny Cox, brother-in-laws, Don Orthober and Sandy Thurman; sister-in-law, Jenny Orthober; and nephew, Todd Smith.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janice Cox; children, Lori K Tharp (David), Erin M Cox, and James Ryan Cox (Lisa); grandchildren, Ethan and Noah Tharp; and siblings, Patricia Cox, Orville Cox Jr. (Kathy), Barbara Jo Smith, John Cox, Gary Cox (Donna), Cindy Thurman, Timothy Cox (Joyce), Terry Cox (Teresa); numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Jim was a member of Southeast Christian Church LaGrange Campus.
