Doris Smith Tingle

She was born to the late Ferdinand and Arlene Alma (Robinson) Smith on January 20, 1929 in Gallatin County, Kentucky. Doris was one of eleven children growing up in the Smith household, 8 girls and 3 boys.

She met the love of her life, George Tingle, at a barn dance in Westport, KY before getting married on April 18, 1949.

Doris was a longtime devoted member of Westport Baptist Church, where she loved serving others through her hospitality. She enjoyed taking care of others through cooking and serving meals. Doris read her bible every morning and was sound in her faith. She loved her family immensely!

She is preceded in death by her husband, son, Dennis Tingle (Donna); and siblings, Irene Barnes, Imogene Sherrell, Ruth Hicks, Tom Smith, and Fred Smith.

Left to cherish the memory of Doris are her loving children, Teresa Phillips (Greg) and Larry Tingle (Kim); cherished grandchildren, Jill Morgan (John), Dennis "Denny" Keith Tingle Jr. (Tiffany), Shannon Morgan (Jeremy), Wendy Soeder, Meg Palmer (John), and Chad Phillips (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Cameron, Landon, Caroline, Emma, Ava, Jack, Gia, Rylee, Ryker, Skylar, Eli, Chloe, Joshua, Sarah Beth, Jessica, Jimmy, and Joseph; great-great-grandson, Greyson; siblings, Betty Rittenberry (Elmer), Patsy Lentz, Janet Straughn, Judy Winters (Donnie), and Stephen Smith (Grace), numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A celebration of Doris's life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY at 5pm with visitation from 2pm until the start of the service. A private burial will take place at Louisville Memorial Gardens East on Monday.
