Deborah Yvonne Covington

She was born to the late Cordia Wease in New Haven, KY on October 7, 1952.

Debbie was "The Glue" that held her entire family together, she was always carrying the stress of her family and made it her own. She would say her greatest accomplishments were being a mother and a Nanny. Being called Nanny brought her so much joy. She was a friend and mentor to many. Debbie worked for Morrison Healthcare as a Dietician until she retired in 2014 to become a full-time Nanny to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter; Stephanie Ellen Burgin and brother; Boyd Grimes.

Left to cherish the memory of Debbie are her spouse; Bill Payton, children; Robert Lee Burgin (Sherri), Angela Cole (Joseph), Jessica Bickerdt (Joshua) and Danielle Klingenfus (Kyle), 7 grandchildren; Cortnie, Zachary, Ethan, Jillian, Lucy, Allie and Kit, great-granddaughter; Olivia, great-grandson on the way; Leelan, siblings; Billy Darius, Tanya Horstman, Jim Darius (Kim), David Darius, Melody Nolen (Steve) and Jeff Jackson (Suzanne), extended family and many friends.

A celebration of life for Debbie will be held at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Noon with burial to follow at Valley of Rest. Visitation will be from 10am until the start of the service.

Memorial donations can be made in Debbie's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
