He was born to the late Alfred Woolums and Anita Hardin Stevens on May 25, 1949 in Louisville.
Wayne was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in LaGrange and enjoyed fishing, UK basketball and Nascar. Some of his best times were traveling with his wife, as well as an annual Florida vacation with the entire family. Wayne served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He and Jeanne traveled annually to meet with fellow Vietnam vets and their spouses, who were part of the 4th infantry division and became lifelong friends.
Wayne was an engineer by profession, most recently owning his own company doing auditing and consulting.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Jim Woolums and Kay Donegan.
Left to cherish the memory of Wayne are his wife of 49 years; Jeanne Woolums, children; Amy Steele (Clint) and Brad Woolums (Misty), grandchildren; Hunter Steele, Regan Steele and Grace Woolums, beloved dog; Lincoln, extended family and friends.
A memorial mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 502 N 5th Ave, LaGrange on Monday, May 29, 2023 at Noon with a visitation from 11am until the start of mass. There will be a private burial at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, American Cancer Society, or COPD Foundation.
