Born on July 31, 1958, to Maurice (Sonny) and Carol Konrad in Evansville, Indiana, Andy was one of four children, growing up alongside his siblings Linda Mehringer (Steve), David Konrad (Paula), and Kathy Weinzapfel (Gary).
In October 1988, Andy married the love of his life, Gail Duchnowski. Together, they built a life filled with joy and love, raising two children, Kandis and Kwin, who were his pride and joy. His family was a cornerstone of his life, and he cherished his relationships with each of them.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Andy’s service to his country was a source of great pride. His passion of aviation grew beyond his military service into his civilian career in business aviation finance. Andy was an Entrepreneur and business owner. He also had a deep interest in politics. He spent many hours with his dogs, Oscar, Ollie, and Amas. He also found solace and enjoyment in riding his bike, hiking, listening to music (with Blackberry Smoke being his most recent favorite band), and spending cherished moments with his family traveling the world.
Andy’s smile had many meanings, often bringing a smile to those around him. His life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his diverse interests, and his devotion to his Catholic faith. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the indelible mark he made on those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Gail; his father, Sonny; his children, Kandis and Kwin; his siblings, Linda, David, and Kathy; his father-in-law, Roman; his brother-in-law, Timothy (Paul), and his extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol, his niece, Valerie, both of whom he missed dearly, as well as his son, Roman Anthony Konrad.
A celebration of Andy’s life will be held at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY 40031 on Sunday August 4, 2024 from 1pm-3pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 11am at St. Aloysius in Pewee Valley, KY.
Though he was diagnosed with cancer in 2014, he never once complained and never stopped fighting. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Andy’s honor.
Andy was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
