Sylvia was a member of the National Honor Society at McMinn County High School in Athens, TN where she graduated. She was a devoted exercise enthusiast. When she was able to attend, she did so 4 to 5 times per week. This was not only a fitness commitment but also a social one as well.
Upon her diagnosis of ovarian cancer, she participated in case studies for Ovarian Cancer research through MD Anderson Medical Center in Houston Texas. She also worked with the city of LaGrange to have the fountain on the square lit up in teal in recognition of Ovarian Cancer every September. Syliva will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
