Jessie was born May 27, 1941 in Cleburne, AL, son of the late Carl Jackson Lowery and Annie Bell Stapler Lowery. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Jessie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pine Mountain and a 50+ year member of the Manchester Masonic Lodge. He lived his life behind the wheel of “Big Rigs”, working for many years for Brown Transport and Strickland Farms until retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William Ralph Lowery, John William Lowery, Bertha Mae Rollins, Carlene Smith, Larry Joe Lowery and Jackson “Jackie” Ray Lowery.
Survivors include his sister, Lucille (Ron) Degler; niece and caregiver, Samantha (Jack) Pung; daughter, Annette Simmons; several other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, December 8, 2023 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. The Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, December 9, 2023 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Minister Jerry Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
