"Nell", as she was affectionately known, was a longtime resident of LaGrange. Nell was born on May 30, 1919 to the late James Daniel Marion Stephens and Martha Jane Register Stephens in Brundidge, Alabama. She moved to LaGrange, Georgia in 1945 with her husband, S.C. Stewart(Deceased). They were married on September 23, 1938 and were members of the Second Baptist Church of LaGrange. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Survivors include her son, Jimmie Lee Stewart and his wife Karen of Arizona City, AZ; daughters, Shelby Jean Patterson (husband Dale, deceased) of Lawrenceville, Ga, and Doretta Nell McCain and husband Sonny of LaGrange, Ga; nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in the Restlawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Bob Tidwell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Nellie M. Stewart.
