Mr. John was born February 28, 1955, in Valley, Alabama, son of the late James E. McLain and Fay Neville McLain. He was a Dairy Farmer and operated heavy equipment. John was a Grayhill Fire Department Volunteer, a member of the Cattlemen’s Association, a FFA Cattle Judge, and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He attended Reed’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Connie McLain; daughter, Leigh Anne Aldridge and her fiancé, Travis; stepsons, Rodney (Tammy) Creed and Chris (Janet) Creed; numerous grandchildren including Chase Aldridge and Kaileigh Aldridge; several great grandchildren; brother, Phil “Crowbar” McLain; nephews, Tyler and Justin McLain; sister in law and brother in law, Carole and Jerry Bray; other relatives and friends.
The Gathering of family and friends will be Friday, February 14, 2014 from 6pm-8pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Reed’s Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff McCarthy and Reverend Chris Garsee officiating. Burial will follow in Marseilles Cemetery, West Point, GA. The Family will gather at his daughter's home, 945 Leonard Rd, LaGrange, GA.
