Mr. Gladney was born July 9, 1951 in LaGrange, GA, son of the late Joel Davis Gladney Jr. and Mildred Josephine Underwood Gladney. He received an Associate’s Degree in Forestry and proudly served his country for six years in the National Guards. Mr. Gladney was a Troup County Tax Assessor for a number of years and also was a Troup County School System Bus Driver until retirement. He learned a strong work ethic from starting work at the age of 9 years old, with his father in the family sawmill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joel Davis “Jaay” Gladney IV; sisters, Cheryl McGinnis and Patricia Whatley.
Mr. Gladney is survived by his wife, Kathleen T. “Tess” Gladney; daughter, Tava (Keith) Stewart; grandchildren, Erin (Austin) Turner, Livi Stewart, and Lacy Stewart; several other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his daughter’s home, 117 Greenbriar Trail from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
