Mr. Harry was born October 1, 1927 in Heard County, Georgia, son of the late James Walter Harry and Nettie “Cook” Harry. He was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church and was employed with the Georgia State Patrol as Post Commander, and with the U.S. Marshall’s Office in Atlanta, GA. before retiring. Mr. Harry was a member of the Elm City Lodge, LaGrange Shrine Club, Shriner’s International – Life Member, Scottish Rite, B.P.O.E, the Peace Officers Association of Georgia, and the American Association of State Trooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sisters, Oleta Jabaley and Oweta Garrett.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Ann Harry; son, James W. “Jim” Harry, III and his wife, Eugenia; daughter, Laurie Harry; granddaughter, Rachel Ann Harry; granddaughter, Margaret Harry; all of LaGrange, GA; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends. Mr. Harry will also be greatly missed by his special companion, “The Baby” Liz, his sweet Maltese.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 23, 2013 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Rev. Meg Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
