Dr. James Louis Doerr

Dr. Doerr was born November 7, 1933 in Covington, VA to the late Ralph Weakley Doerr and Elizabeth Agnes Young Doerr. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, where he served as a Deacon and attended the Men’s Morning Bible Study. Dr. Doerr received his Bachelor Degree from Ball State University and was a member of the football team. He later received his medical degree from Indiana University and served his residency at Parkland in Dallas, TX. Dr. Doerr became a member of the Rotary Club in 1967, was a member of the Gridiron Club, volunteered for Troup Cares, and was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He was the Chief of Surgery at West Georgia Medical Center for 18 years and retired from Clark-Holder Clinic in 1998. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kay L. Doerr.

Survivors include his three children, James Lockwood Doerr and his wife Beth, Jeffrey Scott Doerr, and Robert William Doerr and his wife Natalie, all of LaGrange; sister, Kay Bennett and her husband Gary of Birmingham, AL; seven grandchildren, Abigail Elizabeth Doerr, Sara Katherine Doerr, Ellen Natalie Doerr, Anna Kay Doerr, Lizbeth Anne Doerr, James Reid Doerr, and John Robert Doerr; brother-in-law, Fred Lockwood and his wife Maren of Houston, TX; and one niece, Karen Adcock and one nephew, Jim Deal.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange with Dr. Douglas DeCelle officiating. The gathering of family and friends will be on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
