Mr. Alverson was born February 28, 1947 in LaGrange, GA to the late Riley Alverson and Dovie Lou Landers Alverson. He was a member of Hilyer Baptist Church and retired from Southern Bell, now known as Lucent Technologies. Mr. Alverson proudly served his country in the United States Marines during Vietnam and was a member of the local Marine Corp Chapter. He loved doing woodworking in his shop and will be remembered for his famous chocolate cakes and cheese straws. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffany Alverson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Alverson; daughter, Tammy and Jimmy Lynch; grandchildren, Jeremy and Brandi Prestridge, Leigh Ann and Josh Beckom, Luke and Alex Lynch, LeAnna Lynch, Ros and Brittany Brandon; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Phillip Brice; and several other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00pm Friday, November 27, 2020 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeff McCartney Officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00pm until the service hour. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery with military honors.
