Mr. Cardell was born September 12, 1940 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Ernest Wilson Cardell and Lela Josephine Smesler Cardell. He was a graduate of South Cobb High School in Austell, GA, where he excelled in football, and was U.S. Veteran, serving 8 years in the Air National Guard. Mr. Cardell was an active member of Rosemont Baptist Church, during which time he served as a Deacon, former President of the Deacons, and taught Sunday School. He was a member of the Gideon’s, serving as President and other various positions though out the years.
Mr. Cardell was the owner and cofounder of Dixie Well Boring Company for 45 years before retiring. During his career, he was a member and served on the Board for many associations including: Georgia Water Well Association, serving as President, Secretary, and Treasurer; National Water Well Association; Water Well Standards Board; and the South Atlantic Well Drillers Jubilee, serving as the Director.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Cardell; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Chuck Hart; grandson, Mason Hart; sister, Kathleen Cardell; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Rosemont Baptist Church with Reverend Adam Camp and Reverend Max McCord officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M.to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
