She was born October 17, 1929 in Randolph County Alabama, to the late Iverson and Vera Stewart. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Ray Woodruff and nephew Bo Newsome. She is survived by her companion Joe Scott and Roman family; sister, Margie McWaters; niece Beth (Clay Bryant); great nieces, great-great nieces and nephews, Ashley Rouse, Emily Bryant, Clayton Bryant, Heather Collett and Haley Newsome.
Dillie worked for Milliken and Company for 54 years at the Hillside Plant in research and development. She was a loving wife, aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt. Though she did not have children of her own, she treated all those surrounding her like they were hers. She has a disarming smile, gentle hands of comport and a contagious laugh that would leave a wake of smiles behind her. She lived a comfortable life enjoying simple pleasures, being surrounded by her family, taking care of her plants and making any kind of recipes she could find!
She love her husband Ray very deeply, but when he passed, she allowed herself to find love again with Joe Scott. We say thank you Joe for helping her live a longer happier life. Without him, life would not have been the same.
A private Graveside service will be held at Shadowlawn cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation.
