Mrs. Carol Adams Campbell, 88, of Lagrange, GA ascended to her Heavenly Home and final destination, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, after having been surrounded by her adoring family and enjoying her favorite music in these final days on this earth. Her loving husband, favorite dance partner, and man she affectionately referred to as “Sugar,” of 52 years, George Campbell, preceded her in death and has been patiently awaiting her arrival. As she would lovingly say with a smile, “I was married to the best.” To see the pair dance, particularly the jitterbug, was truly inspirational for any loving couple and a testament to their great romance and life together.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Faydette, Geneva County, Alabama, sharing the special day of her arrival with her cherished twin sister, Connie Adams Merritt of Columbus, GA. Their proud and loving parents, Pitt and Amanda Adams, preceded Carol in death, and surely welcomed her upon her arrival to Heaven. Additionally, three siblings, Clarence Adams, Clinton Adams, and Clara Tew, as well as her special daughter in love, Shirley Campbell and her grandson, Brian Campbell were present for the great reunion celebration. One can only imagine the jubilation experienced as she beheld her Savior and her cherished loved ones.
Carol lived a life of adventure, travel, shopping, dancing, cooking, family time, love of music and being George’s true partner in life. A master in the kitchen, she could whip up amazing meals with a sense of ease that would leave one in awe and envy of the deliciousness that she created. Equally, she had an accountant’s mind and could do wonders with a ledger sheet and a 10 -key adding machine (and yes, she maintained that adding machine tape with diligence!) The combination of these talents served Carol and George in business, together, for many years with great success. She displayed her talents while always portraying the sense of style and class for which she was well noted. Even the simplest outfit was something that was well put together, and when she dressed for occasion, it was truly something to behold!
Cherishing her memory, until reunited, are her children: Rodney Campbell of LaGrange, GA, Jimmy & Linda Campbell of Salem, AL, and Rhonda & Terry Sellers of Rock Stand, AL. Mama was indeed our rock and support.
Carol’s legacy of love will also be cherished by her adoring grandchildren: Dr. Rex Campbell & Kacey Wilson of Lake Harding, AL, Brina & Paul Thompkins of LaGrange, GA, Belinda & Matthew Werley of Newnan, GA, Adam & Renee Campbell of LaGrange, GA, Ricky & Lynsey Sellers of Rock Stand, AL, and Kyle & Anna Campbell of LaGrange, GA.
A third generation, and one of which Carol was particularly proud to know and love, were her great-grandchildren, whom affectionately referred to her as “Grandmother Carol.” They include Evan, Kain, Kailyn, Mia, Creighton, Zarek, Garrett, Jax, Makinley, Brylee, Stella, Hunter, Charlee Ann, Wyatt, and Brooks.
Known as “Aunt Carol”, with great affection, she leaves to cherish her memory, Nieces and Nephews, for which she always carried a special affection.
Additionally, Carol will be remembered and loved my many friends; friendships she cultivated over many years and maintained to this day. Her Church family at New Hope Baptist Church of LaGrange will miss her presence and tireless work and support of that parish’s ministry.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Cris, Regina and the loving & caring staff of LaGrange Heritage Senior Living, as well as Candace & Staff of Gentiva Hospice Care, particularly during the final days of Carol’s journey. Your love and devotion to our Mama, Grandmama, Sister & Aunt is a true testament of the calling that each of you embrace with grace, love and dedication.
The Celebration of a Wonderful and Long life for Carol will be Tuesday, December 3rd at 2pm EST, in the Chapel of Striffler Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, GA with her Grandson, Dr. Rex Campbell, as officiating celebrant and provider of the eulogy. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home, one hour prior to the services, from 1-2pm. They graciously invite all to attend and encourage moments of smiles & laughter, sharing of fond memories & funny stories, bright colors & casual attire, all in the spirit of family, as Carol would want and always enjoyed.
