Mrs. Russell was born January 18, 1936 in Rockmart, GA, daughter of the late Frank B. and Polly Mae Bray. She was a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church, where she loved to sing in the choir as long as her health allowed. After 59 years of faithful and loving service, Betty retired from Emory-Clark Holder Clinic as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved playing Bingo, obtaining the title of “Bingo Betty”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Russell, Sr.; her son, Robert B. Russell, Jr.; and siblings, Frank and Doris Bray, Barbara and Tom Power, Marion and Gene Smith, and Jerry Bray.
Survivors include her son, Thomas “Tommy” Russell and his wife Sherry; grandchildren, Jennifer Mullinax, Sara Russell, Bobby Russell, Jessica Russell and Samantha Russell; several great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carole Bray; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11:00am in the Striffler-Hamby Chapel with Rev. Andy Buchanan officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Betty Russell.
