Stan and Family,  
I am so sorry to hear about your mother and grandmother.  I wish we had of known in time to come.  I know this is a very difficult time for all of you.  I will never forget the first time I met her was when Andrew and Brittany was going to the Prom.  She had a southern charm about her that will never be forgotten.  Everytime Brittany fixes eggs she reminds us that Nona taught her how to make the best eggs.  Hang on to the memories.  We love and miss all of you.  Love, Jill, Brittany, and Calli Dewberry

Dear Captain Pye,

God bless your mother and your entire family. Please take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in a special heaven that God has made for her, especially for her. 

She will always be with you, only in a different way now. Trust me, in that you will still feel her prescence, her spirit, her sweetness and all the times she showed you kindness. You will come across these not only in memories, but in the days to come. Perhaps it will be through a sunrise, a fish trickling through the water, or a bluebird on a window sill. She will be there, and you will know, and in those times, take comfort, reflect and smile.

May the thoughts of family and friends bring you solace also, and may you know you are not alone. There are many who care, many who understand.

Stan, Milly, and all the Pye family,

I was honored to have been in Betty's company enough to know you are all blessed to have had such a beautiful, loving lady in your lives.  Words can't ease your sorrow but hopefully happy memories will ease your pain. I will always think of the laughs we shared at the beach on Tybee Island and remember your Mom's smile as she is pictured here.  May the love you have for each other and the love of your friends help heal your sadness.

Having been Captain Pye's friend for over fifteen years, I was privileged to know his mother, Betty.  I will remember her most for her southern charm, mild mannerism, enduring qualities, sweetness, and her love as a mother and Nanna for her children and grandchildren.  She personified the essence of a genuine Steel Magnolia.  

She seemed especially close to Stan.  I'm not sure if it had to do with him being the youngest of the four children (her baby boy), or a sense of pride that a parent feels when their child reaches certain pinnacles of life such as a good husband, loving father, and caring son.  At any rate, she beamed with pride when Stan walked into the room.  She would listen to his every word, smile and laugh at his clever antics, and make sure that he knew that he was the center of her attention.  Stan always showed a deep love and respect for his mother.  He proved that time after time by planting her gardens, by trying to protect her, and wanting to be with her during her time of illness.  

On the more personal side, any time Mrs. Pye made one of her world's famous coconut cakes, she made sure that Stan carried a big slice home for me.  With all the Pye family at her table, I'm not sure how she managed it, but she always saved me that slice.  

My heart and deepest love goes out to you and your family Stan.  May you take comfort in knowing that an Angel, your mother, will always be watching over you.
