Alice Blake Startley

Mrs. Startley was born March 16, 1936 in Jefferson County, AL, daughter of the late Ulmer Carrie Blake and Willie Odeline Herring Blake. She was a member of Gray Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Carraway Hospital in Birmingham, AL as the file clerk.

Survivors include five daughters, Phyllis Waldroup of West Point, GA, Debbie (Kenneth) Binion, Donna (Charles) Traylor, all of LaGrange, Trudy Smith of West Point, GA, and Karen Craft of Birmingham, AL; nine grandchildren, Teresa Redden, Jessica Riddell, David Marr, Tanya Teasley, Nicole Parmer, James Traylor, Peyton Frew, Chris Craft, and Ryan Mynes; seven great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ledford of Lincoln, AL; and two brothers, Pi Joe Blake of Cullman, AL and Allen Blake of Huntsville, AL;

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jimmy McMillian and Reverend Charles Greathouse officiating. Burial will follow in Gray Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Kenneth Binion and will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
