Deborah Judith Sweeney (7/26/41 – 10/6/24) passed into God's loving hands in Escondido, CA with family by her side. She followed her husband, Richard Leon Sweeney, her husband and childhood love of 66 years. Both were native to Milford, Connecticut, moving to San Diego in 1959 as part of Richard’s service in the U.S. Navy.
As a young mom, Deborah’s home in Allied Gardens was full of her own children and she became a second mom to so many others. Her strong curiosity and thirst for knowledge led her to developing small business, accounting and medical acumen throughout her life.
She was a skilled knitter, teaching throughout the local community and creating personal gifts for all who were close to her. She was an original “jazzerciser" in the 1980’s and led swim classes in many community pools throughout San Diego County.
Deborah’s combined interest in fitness and the medical profession made her the family “go-to” person for all things health related.
Mom’s memory will be carried forever in the hearts of her family and many others in the community.
Loving mother to Richard Thomas Sweeney (Patricia) of La Mesa, Mark Sweeney (Ellen) of Florida, Christine Wolf (Mark) of Escondido and Sheri Smithers (Andi) of Escondido. Grandmother to Richard Reid Sweeney of El Cajon and Hillary (Sweeney) Cox of Colorado; Kiel Kauthen of Escondido; Justin Wolf of Escondido, Elizabeth (Wolf) McNary of Escondido and Abigail (Wolf) Sims of Murrieta; Edward & Cathrynn Smithers of Escondido.
Deborah was blessed with ten beautiful great-grandchildren.
