If you knew Richard, the words that immediately come to mind in describing such a truly remarkable soul would be tenacious, diligent, selfless, sagacious, witty with a keen spirit whose word held great weight when promised by his ever longing generosity that he shared with many. His heart paved many great paths for many people and his giving touched many who needed it. May Richard's dedication to living his life to the fullest be a reminder to all who read this that we must all leave a mark that set us apart and Richard did just that and in the eyes of those he loved he will always be a hero & never be forgotten.
Richard was a U.S Army military police veteran (1959-1965), expert rifleman (M14), member of the DAV and American Legion 205. He devoted his time volunteering as a hospital chaplain and ministering at prisons and juvenile detention centers. He was one of the founders of the Metro-Harlingen Filipino-American Association, former president of Gypsy MC Lower Valley Chapter, a former member of the Shields, Nobody and Liberty Motorcycle Club. He loved riding his trike, tending to his livestock, and target shooting. He was quite the prankster and made it a true talent with his unforgettable pranks. His most prized time was spent with the company of his family and friends. He was an avid traveler, good Samaritan, and true disciple of God.
Mr. Duhamel is survived by his wife Marie Duhamel, sons; Charles (Janae) Duhamel, Ronald (Brenda) Duhamel, daughter; Trishea (Weston Wilhite), niece; Amy Jean Cook (John) Leblanc, nephew; Louis C. Cook. 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
Preceding him in death, mother Claire A. (St. Hilaire) Duhamel, father Louis Charles Duhamel, daughter; Paula Ann Duhamel.
A visitation for Richard will be held Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, Texas . A prayer service will occur Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 6:00 PM, A funeral service will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at 11:00 AM at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.
