preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Timoteo Garcia, and her parents from Mexico
City.
She is survived by her son Alberto (Ofelia) Garcia, her beloved grandchildren, Kristi, Trista, and
Matt (Joeleen) Garcia. Her great-grandchildren who she adored, Monique & Timmy Gonzalez,
Khloe, Brandon, and Caleb Garcia. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters from
Mexico City. Numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was a lifelong member of St. Francis
Xavier Church in La Feria and was a faithful servant of the Lord and a Godmother to many. She
always started her days with prayers. She enjoyed serving in any ministry that needed her. She
respected each and every priest that came to St. Francis Xavier during her time.
Martha was born on April 8, 1935, in Tilcuautla HGO, Mexico, and made her way to the United
States for a better life. Martha started learning the traits of the food industry soon after arriving.
She met Timoteo Garcia during the time she worked as a waitress and soon they began their
life in La Feria. She worked at the Palmetto Inn in Harlingen and became very well familiar with
the restaurant’s establishment. She had the opportunity to start a new venture by starting her
restaurant business in La Feria, which became La Feria Coffee Shop. She owned her business
for over 30 years and got to know many people during this time. She enjoyed greeting the
winter Texans with her fresh hot tamales. Martha was able to help the community of La Feria by
hosting many clubs and business meetings at her restaurant. Martha was a true believer in
helping the community of La Feria. She was always thankful to all the employees that worked at
La Feria Coffee Shop. She was blessed to continue the friendship until her death with many of
her former employees. Martha will be greatly missed.
Arrangements are under Heavenly Grace, La Feria Texas. Visitation will be Friday beginning at
5:00 pm. Rosary will be held on Friday, November 13 at 7:00 pm at Heavenly Grace. The
funeral service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 500 S Canal Street, La Feria
Texas on Saturday, November 14, at 10:00 am with the burial to follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Luciano Avila, Joe Garcia, Julian Guevara Jr., Javier Loredo, Joe Martinez,
and Michael Martinez. We ask that everyone follow protocol at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Limited seating will be available to those who will participate in the funeral mass. Church gates
will close 15 minutes before the service.
