Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Maria “Flor” Santillan entered fully into the presence of our Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2023. She was 81. She was preceded in death by her husband Pablo Santillan.
Maria was best known for her passion and love of life. No visitor could leave the doors of her home not feeling loved, cared for and most importantly fed. Her joy was always found by sharing her loves with those around her, whether it be delighting in her garden and flowers, donning the latest fashion trends or sewing beautiful masterpieces for her family.
The family’s most impressive memories of Maria include her vibrant energy. Her dare devil spirit often found her on the trampoline or rollerblading with the grandchildren, singing and dancing at family events, and her love of family could be found around the kitchen table with a lively game of Loteria - with laughter permeating through the walls. Maria was also known for her passion of music, often recounting to loved ones the many memories she could pin to love songs gone past, giving life through her stories and passing them on.
Even in passing, Maria wanted to make sure the celebration continued, requesting no black be worn at her services but bright and rich colors to remind each and every person to live in the moment and to take time to stop and smell the flowers she loved so much.
Maria is survived by her children, Silvia (Rolando Morales), Gavino, Alicia (Fred Alvarado), Sergio, Ruben (Marcy), and Elizabeth (Rigo Perez) along with her many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
