Maria was born in Relampago, Texas, on November 5, 1943. She was the second child of Encarnacion and Consuelo Trevino. Maria met Ezequiel Sanchez, and they were married on February 9, 1963. They enjoyed a blissful marriage for 60 years. She was a proud mother of four children, seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Maria found solace after hearing a knock on her door, which led her to discover the Bible's truth about her mother's peaceful rest until the resurrection. This knowledge, particularly from her favorite scripture found at John 5:28,29, comforted her deeply. She was baptized on September 8, 1975, in Corpus Christi, Texas, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her life was dedicated to faithfully serving Jehovah and helping others learn about him and his beautiful promises. The knowledge that three generations of her family serve Jehovah made her heart whole.
Maria cherished spending time with her family and delighting them with her cooking. Often found in the kitchen from sunrise to late evening, her daily cooking mainly consisted of tortillas, which her family considers the best in the world.
Her heart truly belonged to her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. She never missed an opportunity to be with them, and her ever-present smile and kind personality are fondly remembered.
Maria had a loving and compassionate heart, and her family eagerly awaits the day when Jehovah fulfills the words of Job 14:15: "You will call, and I will answer you." Maria's loving memory lives on through her husband, Ezequiel, and their children: Jose Martin Sanchez, Samuel (Elizabeth) Sanchez, Ana (John) Butler, and Esmeralda Garza. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Samuel (Jessica) Gonzales, John (Alexis) Butler, Amanda Garza, Holly (Gerritt) Bloch, Meranda Garza, Sarah Sanchez, Kaylee Sanchez, and great-granddaughter Zellah Marie Garza. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Esperanza Moody, brothers Ezequiel Trevino and Juan Trevino, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Humberto Sanchez, her brother Carlos Trevino and son-in-law John Garza.
A heartfelt thank you extends to our dear niece, Meranda Garza, for wholeheartedly dedicating her time to lovingly care for Mom.
