It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Julia Martinez, a beloved matriarch, devoted servant of God, and cherished friend, who left this world peacefully on September 27, 2024, at the age of 79.
Born on April 21, 1945, in Mercedes, TX, Julia dedicated her life to her faith and her family. She was an active member of her church community, where she found joy in serving others and nurturing the spiritual growth of those around her. Her unwavering commitment to her faith inspired many, and her warmth and kindness touched countless lives.
Julia’s greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, filling their lives with laughter, love, and wisdom. Her home was always a gathering place, filled with the sounds of family, stories, and the delicious aromas of her cooking.
An avid gardener, Julia had a deep appreciation for nature and its beauty. Her vibrant garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, blooming with a variety of flowers that she lovingly tended. She often said that gardening was a way for her to connect with God, and her flowers brought joy not only to her but to all who visited her home.
Julia is survived by her children Sigifredo Martinez Jr. (Brenda Lee), Jose Elias Martinez (Valerie), and Judy Lee Martinez (Manuel Ramos), her grandchildren Anastasia Renae Martinez, Luis Fabian Martinez (Brianna), Justice Leann Torres (Joel), Edward Rey Martinez, Christian Rey Martinez, Trinidad Adres Martinez, Isaiah Elias Martinez, Raul Lopez (DeAnna Perez), Angelita Iracheta (Miguel Antonio), Daniel Ramirez (Victoria), Nicholas Noah Ramirez, her sister Helen Lake and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her legacy of love and faith forward.
Julia will be reunited with her husband Sigifredo Martinez, her daughters Rosa Maria Martinez, and Noemi Martinez, her siblings Jesus Robles, Rene Robles, Hipolito Robles, Porfirio Robles, and Francisco Robles, and her parents Hermenegildo Robles and Julia Vasquez Robles.
A special thank you to Melva Reyna and SJ Hospice of Weslaco for being there for her and for our family. Your help and understanding brought us reassurance and comfort. We truly appreciate everything you did and the joy you brought into her days.
A visitation for Julia will occur Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 from 2PM - 10PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, TX 78559. A Chapel Service will occur at 1PM with a Burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, 14166 US 83 BUS, La Feria, TX 78559.
Julia Martinez’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her unwavering faith, loving nature, and passion for life will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
