Jesus, known to many as Jesse, was born to Audelia and Jesus Perez, Sr. (ϯ) on February 19, 1951. He is survived by his mother, Audelia Rodriguez Perez, daughters Araceli Huerta (Joe) and Laurie Perez, granddaughters, Arienne Salinas (Angel), Arisa Benavidez, Arabella Navarro, and Arilysse Robledo, and a great-grandson, Aizik. Siblings include Adan Perez (Rosario), Beatrice Sosa (Gilbert), Anita Perez (Rick), Gloria Torres (Guillermo), Julian Perez, Esmeralda Turner (Dexter), Inez De La Garza, Carlos Perez (Silvia), Dominga Perez (Fidel), and Christina Perez (John) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved wife, Martha Gutierrez, step-daughter, Jeanette Zapata (George), and step-grandson, Izaak.
Preceding him in peace were his sisters, Eva and Benita, a niece, April Abrego, and his father, Jesus Perez, Sr.
Jesse’s greatest passion in life was playing sports, specifically softball, golf, and bowling. Health issues prevented him from continuing to participate, but his love of sports drew him to coaching, creating lifetime memories for his daughters, granddaughters, and friends.
His love for his family was deep, and he always sought ways that defined him as a protector for those dear to him. Throughout his life, his efforts to protect his mother and siblings were always a priority, despite having the inability to let them know that they were what kept him going. Having lunch dates with his mother and siblings became a highlight of his life during these last few years.
Jesse had many roles in his life, but his favorite roles were those of father and grandfather. He doted on his granddaughters and loved nothing more than spending time with them whether attending events or simply hanging out being silly. He prided himself in their successes and provided support in times of need. His guidance and lectures will be missed. Being a grandfather to his step-grandson, Izaak, also brought him great joy and a sense of value during lonely times.
