Elsie Louise Dixon, known to her friends and family as “Louise,” departed this life on January 27, 2024, at the grand age of 94. She passed away peacefully in her home of 53 years in La Feria, Texas, leaving a legacy of laughter and love.
Born on July 21, 1929, in Harlingen, Texas to Joseph Allen and Ethel Bowery, Louise entered the world with a twinkle in her eye that never dimmed. She danced through the decades, always ready for the next adventure or party. Her birthplace may have been Harlingen, but she made the whole world her stage.
Louise was the epitome of the matriarch, her life a testament to her feisty and vivacious spirit. She was the heart of every gathering. In her younger years she loved to travel and ran many businesses. She loved her friends and her family dearly. Her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, was unbounded. She was their number one fan, supporting them through all their dreams and ambitions. Time spent with the grandkids brought her immense joy. “Grandmas House” was and will forever be a place filled with the fondest memories forever placed in the hearts of her grandchildren. She was the life of every party she had or attended and always knew how to have a good time. Although she may have slowed down in the later years, she dance til the day she could not anymore.
As a devout Southern Baptist, Louise's faith was integral to her life and provided her with much solace and fellowship.
Louise's legacy is carried on by her daughter-in-law Patricia Dixon; grandsons Joaquín Silva (Florecel) and Louis Earl Dixon III, and Hunter Dixon; granddaughters Rebecca Louise Dixon and Charlotte Dixon; her many other grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren Joaquín Jr., Diego, Sofia, Madison, Ryan, Louis IV, Atalia, Alina, Emmitt, and Colton, Aiden and Corey and others. As well as various nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in her journey to eternal rest by her Parents Joseph & Ethel Bowery, Husband Walton Dixon, her sons Louis Earl Dixon and Walton E. Dixon, and her brothers Joe Allen and Leon Bowery. We can only imagine the joy she feels being reunited with both her boys again.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in honoring Louise's memory at a memorial service to be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 4:30-9 pm, with a service commencing at 6 pm at the Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria, Texas. A graveside service will follow on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11 am at Harlingen Combes Memorial Cemetery in Combes, Texas.
