Delila “Lila” Ortiz Cardenas was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world August 31st 2023 at the age of 65. Delila was born to Arturo and Consuelo Ortiz on April 28, 1958. In high school, she meet the love of her life Rene Cardenas. Together they had three sons: Rene Jr, Ricky and Ruben.
Delila loved gardening, shopping, watching cartoons and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her four granddaughters: Bianca, Genesis, Scarlett and Haydn.
As an active member in her local parish, Delila volunteered her time at St. Joseph Catholic Church. There she was a CCD teacher for many years. Through her church service, she also helped to provide local outreach and support to those in need.
For over 20 years, she was a part of the Donna ISD family. There she was known for her ability to work with others and resolve problems. Indirectly, she impacted thousands of students in their pursuit of education.
Delila was much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and loved brother, Arturo Ortiz Jr.
Viewing will be held on September 5th from 2pm to 9pm at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria, Tx. Church service will be held on Thursday at St Joseph Catholic Church at 1pm with interment to follow at Heavenly Grace at 2:45pm.
