

She was born on September 17,1931 in Rio Hondo, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Harlingen.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. She worked for the Texas Expanded Nutrition Program for many years.
She was preceded in death by her late parents Francisco and Carmen Perales, her husband Sigifredo Atkinson, her sons Sigifredo Jr, and Arturo, daughter Sylvia Ann Cabrera, sons in laws Alonzo Garcia, and Samuel Cabrera, her grandson Michael Samuel Atkinson, her sister Maria Antonia Mallet, and brothers, Francisco JR, Fernando and Manuel Perales.
Carmen was known for her beautiful smile; everywhere she went she would find a friend. She was a loving, caring mother who loved her family dearly, and devoted her life to them.
She will always be remembered by her family, and friends as a woman of strong faith.
She is survived by her three daughters: Diana Atkinson, Rosalinda (Dianne Delaney) Atkinson, Edna (Carl) Carrillo, daughter-in-law Patricia Ortiz Atkinson; 8 grandchildren: Sammy (Chris) Cabrera, Shannon Lopez, Brandy (DJ) Davidson, Eddie Garcia, Andrea Atkinson (Bradley Shields), Arturo Atkinson, Jr. (Leticia Correa), Michelle (Richard) De Leon, Dannielle (Juan) Montez and Jamie Mira Montes, and 16 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Carmen will be held Monday, July 11, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited 7:00 PM. A visitation will also be on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a chapel service at 10:00 AM.
Special thanks to Guille and Pat for their love and care of mom, as well as Dr.Kotta and ELARA Caring hospice for the wonderful care you all gave to our mother. Also, to Erika and staff at TLC Assisted Living, for their tender loving care they provided to Mom in her last few months of life.
