Alex was born on April 15, 1949 to Agapito and Matilde Torres. He grew up in the small town of Santa Rosa, Texas and graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1969. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and was proud to service his country for 2 years in the U.S. Army. Upon his return from the war, he married Yolanda Sauceda and had 3 children. He started his college education at Texas Southmost College and graduated from Pan American University in 1984.
He spent his teaching career at La Feria High School as a Spanish teacher until he retired in 2006. Upon his retirement he enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Yolanda Torres; parents Agapito and Matilde Torres; sisters Ofelia Aranda and Frances Lozano; brothers Rafael and Rogelio Perez; and his dogs Chase, Pookie, Cici, and Gorda.
He is survived by his wife Minerva Torres; son Rene Torres (Karla); daughters Belinda and Eliza Torres; stepsons Tommy and Carlos Garza; stepdaughter Stephanie Garza; and several grandchildren.
Alex is now free from pain and dancing in heaven. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Services will be held at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria, Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 2-9pm with the Rosary starting at 7pm. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 12pm at Heavenly Grace with burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
