Wilma Schmid, 94, of Kokomo, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Community Howard Regional Hospital in Kokomo. She was born May 31, 1921, in the Czech Republic, the daughter of the late Vaclav Geschka and the late Anna Geschka. She married Josef Schmid on August 5, 1947, and he preceded her in death.
Wilma served in the German Air Force where she was in radio communications. She was a homemaker and cherished spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for her grandchildren, and taking long walks in parks and forests. Wilma will be remembered for always having a smile on her face.
She is survived by her daughter, Hannelore Stout of Kokomo; two granddaughters, Lora Wyrick of Sharpsville and Lynn Cope of Kokomo; sister, Irene Scherzer of Germany; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four siblings.
A memorial service for Wilma will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Rev. Ron DeGraaff officiating. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery at a later date.
