Doug was born on November 1, 1944 in Macon County, TN to Clayton and Myrtle (Nash) Gregory.
Doug married his first wife Charlotte Richmond in 1964, who preceded him in death in 2005. He then married Mary Edwards on July 15, 2009 in Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 9 years, Mary, children Kenny (Eva) Gregory, Kokomo, Krystal Gregory (Jason Walker), Kokomo, Kyle Gregory (fiancé Jennifer Van Horn), Daleville; step children Jimmie Smith (Ronda), Angela Richmond (Darren), Chris (Rose) Gregory, all of Bowling Green, KY, and son-in-law Don Eggers. Doug is also survived by grandchildren; Taylor Gregory, Nicholas Grant, Cameron Gregory, Braylyn and Breanne Voiles, one on the way, 17 step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Doug worked with Civil Defense for many years and worked at Cuneo Press until their closing. He then began his career with Haynes International, retiring after 31 years of service. He was a member of the United Steel Workers #2958, where he served one term as their Vice President. He and his wife Mary began attending Calvary Baptist Church in 2011. He enjoyed feeding squirrels and birds, specifically Finches. He was an avid IU Basketball and Chicago Cubs fan. Doug enjoyed being with his entire family during family reunions, fishing, playing softball, basketball.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Charlotte, daughter Karla Eggers, brothers Jay, Loyd, and Bill Gregory, sisters Dorothy Deel, Lena Manning, Betty Crump, and Mildred Gregory.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or Calvary Baptist Church with envelopes available at the mortuary.
Services will be Friday June 22, 2018 at 11:00am at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel with Pastor Jeff Sexton officiating. Interment will follow at Albright Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the mortuary Thursday June 21, 2018 from 4:00-8:00pm and one hour prior to service time.
