Following a short illness, Stanley Wayne Carson, 64, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully on Nov. 3, 2021, at Howard Regional Hospital, Kokomo Indiana. Stan was born in Kokomo on June 14, 1957, the son of the late Rolland and Wanita (Hite) Carson. Stan was a Kokomo High School graduate, class of 1975. He married Tamie Kellar in 1978.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Rolland and Wanita Carson; stepmother Dorothy (Hunter) Carson and a brother in law, Jack Stephenson.
He is survived by his siblings, Linda (Stephenson) Jarrell and husband Stephen of Durham, NC; and Richard Carson and wife Frankie of Bedford IN. Also surviving are Stan’s previous wife, Tamie (Kellar) King of Fort Wayne IN and their son, Brookes Courts and wife Ashley of Fort Wayne, IN; niece, Alyssa Stephenson of Kokomo; nephew Adam Stephenson and wife Brittany of Palmdale, CA; and several great nieces and nephews, Carson O’Bryan, Kaelyn Chalk and Parker Chalk of Kokomo; and Harper Stephenson of Palmdale CA.
Stan’s family would like to thank the Howard Community Behavioral Health ACT Team for the dedicated care, housing and programs they provided to Stan over the many years following the onset of a serious mental health condition in Stan’s early adulthood. Even while dealing with his debilitating condition, Stanley was a happy, caring and giving person; always making the best of his life. He was well liked by family, friends and those who cared for him. If more people cared and shared as he did, the world would be a better place.
Stan will be cremated and a private family gathering to honor his life will be celebrated in the spring of 2022. His ashes will be interred next to his parents at the Converse Cemetery, Converse Indiana. In lieu of flowers, his family asks friends to advocate for laws providing increased mental health services to those in need and to contribute to local community mental health programs serving those suffering from serious mental health conditions. Without the support of these critical services and programs, many mental health patients become homeless, hungry and abused. Stanley was fortunate to have been served by an outstanding program in the Kokomo Indiana Community. Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ellersmortuarywebster.com for the Carson family.
