Robert "Bob" David Hicks, age 58, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away, surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at his residence. He was born on December 30, 1966 in Kokomo to the late Paul R. and Jane R. (Sommers) Hicks. Bob married Paula (Wethington) Hicks, the love of his life, on July 17 2017, and she survives.
Bob graduated from Western High School in 1985. He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast (especially panheads) known as "Harley Bob", and also known as "Fly" by his Harley Motorcycle friends. He could disassemble and then reassemble a Harley Davidson, blindfolded. He loved to camp with his wife and cook over an open fire. He was talented at home repairs and improvements. He had once replaced a 2 car garage door by himself, after it malfunctioned and re-roofed his parent's home. He was also an avid guitar player, who could write lyrics, as well as the music. He played in many bands through the years, starting in 1978 with his lifelong friend, Les. Most recently, he was a member of Vine Community Church, where he sometimes taught Bible Study, and was heavily involved in the Praise Music Team.
Bob was a proud Teamsters Union #135 member, employed with Shoshone Trucking, a job that he loved, with co-workers he also loved, who affectionately called him "Bobaloo".
Bob was a humble man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He especially enjoyed a cold beer, on the beach, with his beloved wife, Paula.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Paula; his two kids, Shelby (Josh) Smith, and Cole Kucholick; grandsons, Jace and Douglas Smith; mother-in-law, Barbara Wethington; sister-in-law, Jaime (Scott) Handy; nieces and nephews; his loving doggie companion, Daisy, and lots of good friends, too numerous to name.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his church Family, at the Vine Community Church, for all the prayers and outpouring of love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Steve, and sister, Laura.
There will be a time of visitation for Bob on Saturday, April 19 from 9am until the time of funeral service at 1pm, at Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo. Burial will immediately follow the service at Albright Cemetery, 3910 Albright Rd, Kokomo. Memorial contribution may be made in Bob's memory to Vine Community Church; envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
