Mary was born in Kokomo, Indiana on August 19, 1927 to William Hale and Mary J. Rodgers Watkins.
Betty graduated from Kokomo High School in 1945. She married Wayne F. Meyers on April 6, 1946, he preceded her in death in August 2012. Wayne and Betty raised their three children in Kokomo. Betty worked at the Kokomo Tribune, Stellite, and Szabo Foods before retiring in 1973. From 1973 to 1983, Wayne and Betty lived in Lafayette before Wayne’s retirement from the Post Office. Following his retirement in 1983 Wayne and Betty resided both in Indiana and Florida until they returned to Kokomo in 2006.
Throughout her life, Betty was well-loved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other friends and family. They will remember Betty for her love of gardening (especially her roses), painting, golf, music, and dancing. She attended Judson Road Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, daughter-in-law Judith Meyers, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Robert and Gretchen Kurtz, Orville and Joan Cummings, Pamela Wood, and Charles Lear.
Betty is survived by her children, Marcia Fritzlen, Stephanie Cattell, and John Meyers, all of Kokomo; grandchildren Carin (Christopher) Hollandbeck, Brownsburg, Christopher (Courtney) Fritzlen, Westfield, Andrew Cattell, New York, New York, Katy Cattell, St. Petersburg, Florida, Melody (Randy) Smith, Kokomo, Monica (Ron) Nelson, Westfield, Indiana, Melissa (Ryan) Phillips, Kokomo. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Sara Cate Hollandbeck; Evan, Cameron, and Victoria Fritzlen; Mackenzie and Madison Smith, Aidin and Cade Gooch, Devin (Taylor) Huffer; Gabe, Mikayla, and Logan Phillips; brother-in-law’s Ray (Joy) Meyers and David Wood; sister-in-law Patricia Lear, special cousins Raymond and Tilly Reed, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Tuesday August 22nd, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel. A Graveside service will be celebrated on Wednesday August 23rd, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Mausoleum Chapel of Love (2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo)
