She was born July 22, 1934, the daughter of Harry and Mable (Woolridge) Daily. Marcia, or as everyone knew her, Marty, had retired from a successful career with the Kokomo Police Department, where she worked in the records department. She was very active in the election campaigns for her nephew and former Mayor Steven Daily.
Before her career, she managed to raise five rambunctious children, cook three meals daily and keep an immaculate house; how one person could accomplish such a feat is still a mystery. The culinary gems that would flow from her kitchen (chicken and noodles, pan-fried chicken, and of course her legendary old fashioned cream pie) will forever live on in her family's memory.
Marty was a country girl raised on a farm in rural Howard County, and was the seventh of 13 children. Later in her life, when many memories had left her, she would always regale her children and grandchildren with detailed memories of growing up on the farm with her mother and father and 12 siblings. Wringing chicken necks, farm chores and mischievous adventures with her brothers and sisters always brought gasps, smiles and laughter from her family.
She left all of five of us with fond memories of holidays filled with family, sharing home-cooked recipes and the sound of multigenerational voices reverberating throughout our home. She will be missed as all mothers are and remembered for all the good things that she brought into our lives.
Marcia is survived by three daughters, Karen O'Mahoney, Bloomington, Kathleen O'Mahoney, Williamsburg, Virginia, and Maureen (Vincent) Davis, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; two sons, Kevin (Jane) O'Mahoney, Newtown, Connecticut, and Michael (Cindy) O'Mahoney, Bloomington; grandchildren, Tyler, Jackson and Elaina Clifford, Grayson, Gabrielle and Emerson Davis, Sean and Caitlin O'Mahoney and Emma and Li Mei O'Mahoney; sisters, Joan, Sandy and Monica; and brother, Michael Daily.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Lillian, Mary Louise and Evelyn; and her brothers, James, John, Robert, Mark, and Charles.
A celebration of life for friends and family will be held at Mabel and Harry's Guest House on Saturday, Aug. 26, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
