John W. Hutto, 87, Kokomo, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born December 19, 1924, in Sharpsville, to Clark N. and May (Hawkins) Hutto. He married Barbara (Thompson) Hutto, and she preceded him in death on August 23, 2011.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1943 to 1946, earning the Victory Medal and a Bronze Star. He later worked as a brick mason for the Bricklayers Union and was a member of the Elks and the American Legion.
He is survived by two daughters, Shelly (Mike) Johnson, Atlanta, Georgia, and Sandy (Mark) McAlpin, Kokomo; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Hutto; one brother, Doug Hutto; and one sister, Roberta M. Lee.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. His ashes will be entombed in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online messages of condolence may be made at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
